Elliot’s Story
Elliot Derrick Blair was born and raised in Orange County, California. He attended Servite High School in Anaheim. After high school, Elliot enrolled in California State University, Fullerton and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics. Following his graduation from college, he attended Loyola Law School in Los Angeles where he earned his Juris Doctor degree. In 2017, Elliot got his dream job becoming a deputy public defender with the Orange County Public Defender’s Office. Elliot was passionate about his work as a public defender. He especially connected with his clients in the juvenile justice system, spending the extra time to mentor and encourage them. On January 14, 2023, Elliot was tragically killed in Rosarito, Mexico. His loss is greatly felt by all – family, friends, and those he knew in the criminal justice system.
The Elliot Blair Foundation seeks to honor Elliot’s legacy by providing scholarships and educational resources to at-risk youth, including youth navigating the juvenile justice system, to enable them to become productive members of society and reach their full potential. The foundation will also provide educational resources to families who have had loved ones die abroad in sudden or tragic circumstances.
